Old Harding Pediatric Associates of Nashville, Tenn., has been singled out by the Nicholas E. Davies Awards of Excellence for exceptional of an electronic health record (EHR) system in primary care. Sponsored by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, the award recognizes the use of EHR systems to improve healthcare delivery.

Old Harding Pediatric uses DST Health Solutions' MDr PracticeManager software to manage and control all aspects of its healthcare practice, from appointment scheduling and medical billing to electronic claims submission, electronic remittance, insurance follow-up, and payment processing. The pediatric practice has integrated PracticeManager with Noteworthy Medical System's EMR (electronic medical records) to give its practice a best-of-breed system that improves patient care and streamlines operations.

Seamless Integration of Systems
According to Brenda Plunkett, the practice's executive administrator, integration between the two systems is seamless. Demographics entered into PracticeManager are immediately sent to Noteworthy, eliminating redundant data entry. The physician documents the patient's visit in Noteworthy, which generates the charge detail. The charge detail in turn is sent to PracticeManager electronically, thus eliminating the need to hand key the charges and helping to speed reimbursement.

Web-Based MDr PracticeManager
